I thought that most if not all these motors had a screw or a couple of screws fixing it to "something".

Possibly, I haven't removed any screws.

I thought this was just a single tab from memory. It’s a bit of a strange angle. Have a good look around it as there might be another tab

I stand corrected, I've only ever replaced a temperature motor.

Re: Air con not working right? Replace the V68 motor - HOW TO.
Some progress.
The tab needs to be lifted as indicated by the green arrow and not lifted at the edge (red cross).
So the bottom of the assembly is loose. According to KITT's guide you can then remove the motor and bracket. But it's not exactly falling out. The bracket fitted seems to be the large type, so I'm wondering where to leverage it at the top (which is very tight to access due to the blower assembly, airbag electrics, etc.). The replacement motor came with a bracket but that does not look like it will fit to the vehicle.

Front what I recall the brackets are almost the same but one part has to be cut off. Been a while since I did this

To remove the top clip I did the following:
Unclip power loom to blower motor.
Move power loom out of way (it can be pushed below as per photo)
Use long nose pliers and access through glove box aperture to pull top clip as shown.
Be careful when moving the small gauge wires out of the clips on the motor bracket.

Some progress, but now there's a problem.
Original motor bracket and motor assembly.
New motor
Side by side - the gear is different!

The part which I removed is Bosch 0 132 801 207. When I Google this it comes up as a headlight control motor AND a heater motor flap control. I'm guessing its a general purpose item.
Not sure what the new unit is for, but where can I get a replacement Bosch 0 132 801 207?

Apparently there is a new Bosch part number - 0132 801 182 00 - but I cannot find this either.

6Q0907511 is the part for the motor itself
The actual motor is the same. You should be able to just switch the gears over providing the home position is the same on the new one so it lines up correctly

I thought about that but it looks like the gears are riveted on? Do you mean to disassemble the motors and swap them?

I'm not overly enthusiastic about open motor surgery. Maybe I'll plug the old one in and check and mark its angular rotation, then do the same for the new one to see if I'd be starting with a chance to avoid complications arising from problems in that area.

You’ll see inside it’s quite straightforward. It can only really go one way
