Random Noise

Post by JoeR »

Hi Everyone

Hoping someone can assist. I have an odd noise that is coming from just under the rear seats and then under the metal bodywork. When I took car for its MOT and service I got the guys at garage, who I know well, to check everything out for me. They can confirm it is NOT wheels, suspension, shocks etc. It sounds almost like a knock, but then sometimes like a rub. It seems to come from under this wired section (see image attached) but when I look under the car the fuel tank blocks my view.

Apologies for the vagueness but if anyone has experienced this or would know where to start then ill be hugely appreciative as its getting a bit annoying. On the plus side the car is amazing and will soon be starting a little project with it (Blue GT DSG)

Cheers Joe

That is your low pressure fuel pump.

I can't imagine that would make a noise if it was still working.

Could be, or it could be using the hard plastic delivery pipe to transmit and so amplify the noise where it touches the bodywork, so maybe check that delivery pipe is routed and fixed as intended.

Cheers for the suggestions. Ill have a double check as soon as I can. Always at the mercy of not having much space to move around with.
I have made sure all the bolts are tightened so i can at least rule that out, but will make sure it hasn't been forced onto bodywork. The noise did disappear temporarily after a large bump in road but has since returned so something has definitely been shoved by the force.

Franky, if you are less than 100% competent/comfortable with working in an environment where there is power and petrol, my advice is to leave it to others who can handle this in a safe manner.
