2015 TDI bluemotion: water temp and mileage reading issues

Hi all

2 issues:

Issue 1 Water temp; car was over heating, did some research on here, known water pump issue, changed water pump. Car now doesn’t over heat...but temperature constantly fluctuates. Did 300+ miles yesterday and it moved between 70 and 90 all the way. Not in an unusual fashion; if cruising it dropped, if pressing on it rose, but obviously should be at 90 constantly after warm up. I wonder if previous owner has removed thermostat to try and solve overheating issue? But why the fluctuation after warm up?

Issue 2 mileage reading: speedo, mpg, average speed, trip all work...overall mileage hasn’t moved in a few days. Any ideas?

Would definately look at thermostat first. Fit genuine part. Worth scanning with VCDS in case it throws up anything electrical.
