Gear select problems

2015 GTI with 48000 miles on it was on the motorway today cruising along about 140 everything fine, pulled off onto the slip road and it wouldn’t go into 3rd then stopped at the junction tried to go into first the gear stick wouldn’t move over to the left at all then managed to get into a lay-by it wouldn’t move left at all would move into 3rd and 4th no problem and then 6th but wouldn’t move into 5th the car was off at the time of trying to move the gears the clutch feels fine anybody got any ideas? would be appreciated ???

nah it was mph.....i think i might have just over heated somthing been driving about today and it’s been ok
