Polo 6R: Four beeps when engaging reverse gear. Why?

Hi there.

I recently purchased a Polo 6R (2009) 1.2 Trendline that seems to be working fine.

In the first days of driving, I noticed that, when the reverse gear was engaged, the car did four consecutive beeps and the parking sensors were doing their job. However, yesterday, the car stopped beeping when I engaged R-Gear. And the sensors stopped working too.

The previous owner lost the manual and I don't find the answer anywhere else. I've ordered a VAG KKR cable to diagnose the problem but in the meanwhile I was wondering if anyone knows what does the four-beep signal means? If it is some sort of warning.

Yes it is an indication that the PDC is malfunctioning. This way you don't blindly reverse into an old lady.
