6n2 amp wiring!

Post by kapur »

i've read another post which someone had written, but it was on a 6n, and another on hte 9n, but none on the 6n2...

It'd be great if someone could tell me how to wire up the power of the amp from the battery to the boot?

I'm having trouble finding a place for the power cable to go from around the glovebox area.

Will i have to drill it?

Sorry I drive a 9N, but shouldn't they all be pretty much the same?

Have you got the power cable through the wall between the engine compartment to the interior yet?

Well that's the bit where I'm stuck on too to be honest, but I'll try and find out tonight.

Look for "grommets" under the ECU box magig thingy on the right hand side of the engine (looking from the front) and look down and you should see little black round rubber thing's and cables going through them (into the interior). Try and remove one of them from the inside or poke the power cable through one of the existing one.

But then, I could be completely wrong, since I haven't done it myself yet! Will see...

Any other offers? :P

I used the grommet on the other side (drivers side), theres smaller cables already going through it, which gave me more room to stuff my power cable down there.

Ive also got the power lead coming from the battery going up into where the motors for the window wipers are (hidden behind a removable piece of plastic) and then along to the grommet, that way it stays out of the engine bay and away from the heat etc.

Seems to work fine for me :)

Aha, well I just poked it through a hole with a cable already in it on the right hand side (not drivers side).

Does it matter about the heat issue?

I'm confused.

I think you lot mean right hand side being the passengers side on a UK car?

lolz! well thats the left side to me. Thats why UK cars are right hand drive, steering wheel on the right! :P

Ok, so their IS a grommet on the PASSENGERS (left hand) side?

Could someone kindly confirm that before i go around ripping out the interior which i really dnt want to!

I'm talking about a "RIGHT HAND DRIVE" UK Polo 9N, which does have a grommet on the PASSENGER side just underneath the glove box.

You should see a wire going through it already, take that grommet out with a screwdriver and jus poke the power amp lead through that hole, do need to rip some interior out depending on which route you will take to the boot.

Tip: Might wanna take the ECU of the plastic holding (fold it down) so you can get a bit easier access to that hole (from the engine compartment).

Oh i see, i'll have a look for that route.

I'm guessing it'll be different though! The 9n is a big improvement over the 6n2

Yeah I was just thinking that actually, oops, sorry about that. But I've sorted mine out now and I'm so proud! Lol :) I mean, I've never done anything like this before.

I got mine through a hole which you can just about see above the brake pedal. In the engine bay it's behind that massive lump of plastic they call the engine cover.

Saw it straight away, was a ballache trying to get it through though.

Well I took the most easiest way (I think anyway!) :) But I am talking abou the 9N here, sorry 6N2 guys!

Oh and I've got a BBG (by Phoenix Gold) amp, which claims to produce 320W RMS, linked to the JBL 12" GTO subwoofer. Pretty tight reallly the bass, not the boomy type.

I wonder if it'll sound different if I used a ported box?
