Performance intake ?

Post by CarbonChaos »

Hi all,
I’m toying with the idea of a intake on my stock 2015 polo GTI and have come across some issues identifying the correct name for the factory turbo.
Here’s what I’m after ( as per golf 7 )
1 - a larger turbo elbow and silicone hose
2 - a enclosed air filter
3 - turbo muffler delete

I’ve been looking at the revo and racing line stuff, I’ve contacted a couple of companies who all quote me the same guff listed online which is ‘ it fits a IS20 and IS38 turbo’

Can anyone tell me what turbo the polo has from factory? I see IHI cast into the housing ?

Am I right in thinking the IS38 is for Golf R and the IS20 is for golf GTI ? Is the polo GTI turbo an IS12 ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

I've fitted the racingline intake on my 2015 gti but wasn't happy with small elbow fitted stock.

So looking into it i found that all the turbos have exactly the same dimensions for attaching everything.

So a racing line elbow fits no problem but you need the breather hose off a golf R as it attaches to the underside of the elbow rather than the top side.

This also goes for muffler delete fitting any turbo is12,20,38

Thanks dink,

That’s pretty much the answer I was looking for, so just to be completely clear I can order a polo specific air intake and golf mk7 specific elbow and turbo muffler delete ?

How do you find the racingline intake noise wise ? Good, bad or ?

Many thanks again.

no if you get a polo specific intake it will probably only fit the smaller elbow

racing line do a kit that comes on top of the intake but imho it's pointless as you are left with a useless silicone hose

that is why i fitted my own silicone hose to the racing line elbow

you will need the breather unless you find a larger elbow specific for the polo

I didn't get it for noise so can't comment plus i wouldn't hear it over the milltek

Thanks yeah you’re right about the air filter to elbow pipe.
I am aware that i will be buying a pipe that will not fit and never be used.
By chance do you know the part number for the golf breather hose required?
