Boot release motor broken

Post by Alisdair »

Hi everyone,

The other day I went to open my boot on my 2011 1.2 TSI. As I lifted the VW sign on the boot, it made a noise like a battery powered machine gun. Now the catch won’t stay locked and you can just pull the boot open without using the VW badge.

Is this just a simple motor replacement or can it be fixed?

Thanks

Most likely the nylon gear inside already broken. You have to replace the whole locking/latch unit.

Ive studied the mechanism and the gear operation before. i even tried 3dprinted the worm gear for replacement. so i found out its not wear and tear issue. its not worn out issue. It is normally how you operate the latch. Never ever pull the emblem logo while you closing the lid. thats the trick. only for opening.
