Re: Benzinkopf's 2012 VW POLO 6R MK5 1.2TSI 105HP DSG
Ok. I think I’m done with the ambient lighting. 10 positions: 4 in the doors, 4 for footwells, 2 within the Armrest. All connected to the special Ambient Light wiring from Ciclo with 2 Amp fuse. It will switch on with the Headlights on/Interior switches illumination on. It will keep ON even after turning off engine and before removing the key.
Thanks again to Ciclo for the wiring, and everybody here with the ideas and inputs. [emoji1360] Stay safe friends. Hope we will be out of this pandemic by end of this month.

Thanks to you for enlightening us with your ideas.

I wish you were right about the pandemic, but it won't be that easy, there is too much toxicity... especially informative. ☢
There is also too much territorial egoism that will condemn humanity as long as it is exercised.
Past rules will not be useful in the FUTURE, you can be absolutely sure of it. ABSOLUTELY SURE!
---
S.... exit.
I am afraid that the more than 100 million people who come to s**t, eat and sunbathe in my country every year will now have it a little more difficult and much more expensive.
The people of my country, 47 million, are no longer willing to be cheated again with trickery rules (2008).
---
WOW! ... close to 150 million s**t in a little place every year ...however, thank you for sedimenting your future food with your s**t.
The best food in the world.

Thanks iichel. The led position from the under the rear seat satisfies my intention.

Great!!!
2 lights in armrest — one is under the armrest storage in front and clear visible.
Other is inside the armrest base and facing back side, right?
Light peeping out from plastic cover gaps is just good enough.
It looks like coming from under back seat near transmission tunnel.

Oh no. there’s only one led inside the armrest which is for the front side.
Then the other led under the rear seat to light up the area behind the armrest(cupholder/usbport/my 2nd central lock button)
at first i plan to just do everything inside the armrest, but ive no way to light up the rear side. so i pull the wires to the rear seat instead and put led there.

Cool. My imagination was right.
You seem to have found good spot. I am sure you must have put a lot of efforts to pin point it.

Haha. If you consider countless time spent sitting in the car several nights for darkness moment to decide where and what not, yes. it is indeed lots of efforts. lol
And now, it seems like our lockdown going to continue further down the month, i might rework my usb port there, to put some illumination text “usb” and switch ON indicator as well. The plan is to use the Heater switch button module for the illumination red led and yellow indicator.

Today, to avoid my front passenger asking me what the purpose of the switch on the side of the dash, I create a label to say just that for the Door Exit/Warning Light. Happy Labour Day btw to all!

Finally i completed my rework on the rear usb incorporating the backlit illumination red and switch “ON” indicator.
As I have the switch for this 12V-5V converter at the front, having the “On” indicator in this design will help me notice the switch status when I glance from the driver’s seat. And the rear passenger dont have to disturb my driving at night anymore by switching on the roof light just to find the charging port[emoji1787]

this thing end up on my dash. and i’m crazy enough to cut the dash. unfortunately there’s not much room there. just about nice depth to fit the gauges with the menu button accessible. As i dont have the original mounting plate and i feel like i want to make the plate “smaller” to fit in polo, i’m working on the custom plate now. again. 3dprinting.

I like the way you're thinking. Is it the Beetle instrument?

scirocco. i think the beetle top cover bit different.
btw, just to share, for those who plan to have this as well, the positioning is critical [emoji23]. first i simply place the gauges where i think “nice”... but remember the view angle of the gauges may cause unnecessary glare from the sun and at night you might get “headup display” on the windscreen. so ive to adjust 2 times and end up with this position, which is also within reach of the hand.
the whole front side of the gauges will easily fit somewhere directly on top of the centre vents. any further you will have to touch the air tunnel for the side vents.
