Remote Out signal for Hi Low converter and amp

Post by JonasH99 »

Hi,

I am currently installing a subwoofer to my Polo 6C and have bumped into a problem with finding remote out signal for both my hi low converter and amp..

Where have you guys gotten the remote out signal from?

I have seen someone taking signal from the ignition to the hi low but i am hoping there is something more easy.

And for the amp i see people using the 12v connector in the boot, but my model somehow doesn’t have it so at the moment i don’t have any clue to where to get signal from.

Tia.

i was going to install a mini amp (alpine ktp-445) but could no find a decent way of getting a remote on signal.

i was going to use an opto-coupler on the usb port that way it would come on with the head unit but it was going to be a mess.

but have decided to use a different amp that comes on automatically with speaker signal now

What kind of high-low converter are you using? Some have a remote wire output and sense off the speaker wires.

+12V you'll have to run to the battery if it needs a large cable. My pioneer subwoofer only needs 10A so I've got that fused into the factory fuse box. Just bought the repair wire from VW and popped it into an empty slot. The power wire on this sub is actually smaller than the repair wire.

I didn't need a remote wire as the sub can take high level input and senses off that. Is yours not able to take high inputs?

It's weird though as it switches on of you open the door. The infotainment screen is off, but I guess it's preparing to be turned on so that triggers the amp.

Ground point can be found under the panel on the left of the trunk. Unclip the trim, pull the carpet back and you'll see it. 10mm nut, IIRC.

Its the MDS 4ch hi low converter, and it does have a remote out cable but i just thought it was a remote out for the hi low converter.

And no, my sub can’t take high inputs

Not familiar with that converter. Got a link?
If it's like any other converter that remote out would be what you need.
