Gents,
My screenwash bottle is leaking, had this trouble before and cant remember what to remove to get to it.
Is it the case of turning wheel to full lock and pulling back the wheel arch inner or can I reach it if I take the front bumper off? I cant remember if you need to take off both or just one or the other.
Cheers

Re: Screenwash Bottle Location
Front bumper needs to come off to get in at it properly I am afraid plus the inner wheel arch cover if you want full access to it. Are you sure that it is not just the washer that has perished at the pump.
Re: Screenwash Bottle Location
Well I had this issue with my last polo and when I removed the wheel arch/front bumper you could see a little 2cm strip of pipe was split on the washer bottle so I replaced that and it was fine. I still have a 9n but a different one now and never had problems with the screenwash on this car. I always keep a strong mixture in there so it wont freeze too. It seems as though its dripping out slowly until after a day or so its nearly empty. I guess to get to the pump/seals/pipes/washer bottle I have to take the bumper and wheel arch out first then before I can comment as I cant see any of them? When the washer bottle is full it squirts no problem, its just quietly leaking out under the washer bottle location.
Will pop off the bumper and arch tonight and will report on my findings!

I took the bumper off to get to the screen wash bottle and have found which piece it is leaking from. Check out following images:-

The 2 hoses are fine. The water is seaping out around the outside of the white/black circle you can see in the second pic. Not sure if its the pump? Its got 2 pipes going into it and itself plugs onto the large black thing on side of the bottle which is plugged in with electric connection. Can anyone tell me if I can get the circular part on its own or is it part of the pump unit? Is this piece plug and play? It looks like it will unplug from the hoses and a new one could plug in?

yeh looks like its the pump that's at fault here when you remove it and replace it with a new one be very careful you don't push the rubber gromit into the bottle use some fairy liquid to help ease the pump into the gromit. easy fix you have already done the hard bit removing the bumper and inner wheel arch cover.
Re: Screenwash Bottle Leak - Pics attached
Ahhh I only just saw your post and have already popped the grommit in! Ive got a new one on order but I wonder if its worth taking the bottle out to tip it upside down an get the grommit out. I doubt it would do any harm to leave it in there would it?
Re: Screenwash Bottle Leak - Pics attached
I would just remove it and get the gromit out save you having problems later. It is a common thing to happen hence the use of fairy liquid to help it in. Plus if you have the bottle off you can put it in without sitting at a weird angle.
Re: Screenwash Bottle Leak - Pics attached
Just an update on this for everyone, it was indeed the pump that had gone. I replaced the pump, with a new grommit and the problem is resolved!
Re: Screenwash Bottle Leak - Pics attached
Did you end up removing completely to get the gromit out?
Re: Screenwash Bottle Leak - Pics attached
Nah I didnt bother getting the grommit out. I was down to one more screw to get the unit out, but the screw is beyond the Earth from the battery and is inn such an awkward place, I couldnt be bothered for any more hassle. The new grommit and pump sit nice with no more leaking! The pressure of the screen wash seems fine, I dont think the grommit is doing any harm where it is.

Maybe dig a bit deeper and you might find the part number of the part you possibly need, which, from memory is the rubber joining sleeve over the hose leading from the pump to the rear washer, might even be a posting in one appear of this forum.
