Sorry if its been asked before.
My 6C GTI 1.8 2016 needs a top-up of oil. My service book says its QI6 so its on the flexible service schedule, however which oil do i use?
Its recently been serviced at the dealer so i want to put the right oil in it.
Thanks

From Memory you need oil that meets or exceeds VW 504 00 specification - should be lots to choose from. VW recommend Castrol Edge but in reality any meeting the right spec will be just as good. Try somewhere like Opie Oils - the website will give you a list to choose from.

If you car has recently been serviced by VW I'm surprised it needs a top up. My car does around 8k miles between services and has never needed topping up as doesn't drop below the half way point between max and min. Forgive me If I'm teaching granny to suck eggs but are you making sure the engine is hot and then turned off for 5 mins before checking the oil level?

Thanks yeah I haven’t fully inspected it and it may not need topping up. Just thought I would find out to put some in the garage for now for when it does need it.
My understanding is Castro’s Edge 5w30 should be the right oil?
