Hi all, so just finally got round to servicing the daughters first car and just checking anything else and thought I'd have a look on HonestJohn where it mentions that the cam chain seems to have an issue with the tensioner which fails at about 60000 miles? Of course this cars at 55,000! This is the EA11 CAVD engine?
So, Im wondering a) is there a simple way to check it and b) how big a job is it for the home mechanic?

The CAVD engine is a 4-cylinder 1.4 TSI engine.
I think yours is the CGPA engine, 1.2 3-cylinder. I don't now about failing chains, but it has a reputation of being a very reliable and economic engine.

Thank you lichel for that, the more I searched the more confusing it all became so I turned here knowing that someone would set me right!
Much appreciated.
Next job will be to sort her front shocks as I noticed that the front end bounces a few times when pressures applied at the bonnet end
