6R condenser removal
Has anyone replaced there condenser? as mine wants doing as it has a leak .I've been quoted £350 So I've priced up a new one for £45 with a 2yr guarantee. I'm looking at doing it myself could I do it without taking the bumper off to save time ?

No it's not something you can do easily. Also don't forget to tap off the AC gases with a specialized tool.

So its bumper off then !!!is it just the screws in the wheel arch then just clips ?thers no gas in the system it was totally empty when the ac guy looked at it he pressurised it with dry nitrogen to find the leak so that will have purged anything that was left

I think that you should consider getting a new core for the drier while you are swopping condensers.

Re: 6R condenser removal
At least on my older daughter's late 2009 Ibiza, so basically the same car as your 6R Polo, that the drier core was accessed from the top and that makes a lot of sense, possibly after removing the top cover, but on my wife's 6C Polo as far as I have worked out, the drier core gets removed from the bottom and maybe only after the radiator etc has been removed, which sounds crazy as after completing a leak repair and the system has proved to be "leak free" you would normally swop over the cores and vac down prior to loading the fridge charge back in - but maybe not!
My wife's 2015 6C Polo has lost almost all its gas so I could end up finding out just how tricky it is to replace the evaporator or the condenser, though maybe I'm just being pessimistic and a quick recharge will keep it going for years!

Re: 6R condenser removal
Had a better look today took the front grill out the bumper is quite easy to take off there are screws in wheel arch and under the front lip then some clips .the dryer is defo part of the condenser the drier core is accessed top right of the condenser but I have to replace the lot as the condenser has a leak just waiting for the new one to arrive then I'll do it
