Its vacuum controlled on the 1.3 CL. Did you swap the distributors over? If you didnt its worth a try...or if you did its worth swapping them back! :D

I dunno then. Its not the same as a GT (electronic) If its vacuum controlled there should be a flying saucer shaped thing on the back of the dizzy that a vac pipe needs to plug into. did you swap them over or did you leave the mk2 one on?

I think it's the same as the gt one, There is no flying saucer on it. I swapped them over.

What have you done so far to try and rectify the problem? Plugs and leads? blue temp sensor?

Ive just been looking at a few pics and yeah it seems as if it isnt a vacuum controlled advance after all. So you were right to swap them over.

hoorah.
I fixed it.
Was a leak in the inlet manifold.
seems that some of the old gasket had remained there.
Doh.
all smooth running and stuff now. Hoorah.

cheers for the help anyway.

Glad its back together working now. Shame you couldn't have done a GT conversion or similar. Maybe in a few years eh...?

Looking in to doing a 1.4 conversion if I can find one with the right miles and the right price.
