Polo 6r dsg problems
Polo 6r dsg problems
I have a 2009 polo 1.4 with a 7 speed dsg box and it's developed a problem. When driving in full auto mode its not changing gears correctly for example when driving at 70mph it's doing 4000rpm in 5th. Around town it's not changing gear early enough leaving the engine screaming between changes. However if i drive in manual mode i can change gears perfectly from 1st to 7th without any problems. Anyone else had this issue or know what it could be.

Go to your VW dealer or someone with VCDS and have the DSG reset, you could also have the DSG software updated at a dealer, also could be the Megatronics playing up.

What do the Internet ‘experts’ have to say about the 7 Speed DSG as fitted to the Polo? To quote one..
“ There really aren’t that many common faults for the 7 speed DQ200 DSG transmission, and one of those faults is a simple and unavoidable matter of wear and tear. All in all, that’s not bad for an automatic transmission”.
It’s a different animal to it’s “Wet” 6 Speed predecessor.
My experience of it has so far been in line with the ‘expert’ opinion. It is certainly the best gearbox I’ve ever encountered in 60 years plus of driving very varied motor cars.
I hope you are able to sort yours without too much hassle and expense.
