6c GTI service questions

Hi all,
I'm doing a service on my 2016 GTI Polo and wanted to know what the torque setting is for the spark plugs?
Also do i tighten to the torque then a extra qualter turn?

Were abouts is the pollen filter located, ive not looked yet. On my golf it was in front of passanger side windscreen?

Also anything else usefull to know or be good to know about me zim zimmer, like on my old golf it had the rear boot washer problem.

The pollen filter will be in the passenger footwell, near to the centre console.

Thanks will look under there want to take the glove box off. Just the torque settings now?

Right I managed to get the time to do me service an on changing me spark plugs, wanted to put some useful info here.

To removed the spark plugs I noticed the ing coils were held down so linked and got the correct torque settings.
At the bottom the 2x hex bolts I removed to give me some slack on the wiring to the ing coils, I could not find any torque setting so went for the same as the the nuts 10nm. The torque setting I used for the spark plugs was 30NM

On changing the pugs I noticed the ones in the engine (OEM from new) was bosh, yet the newer ones from VW TPS are NGK. Are they making two types of OEM plus now, always thinked VW was NGK?
On another note is there a trick to remove the plastic electrical clips to the ing coils as I had trouble on the 2nd one, normally just unclip with a little help of a screw driver?

The electrical plugs are easy once you get the technique and require no tools.

You have to push the plug on further then unlatch the little clip with your thumb then they'll pop off.

I've always favoured NGK over Bosch for use in VW Group engines, probably as I've always found the originals in be NGK, VW using Bosch will just be due to them planning to never single source anything where possible.

I bought a tool to release these plug/sockets, but often there is no room to use it so I just revert to the good old "push plug<>socket further together to reduce the load on the retainer, then flick the retainer up using a screwdriver".

Watch out when you remove the pollen filter as there may well be lots of dust coming out/down, best to avoid getting that in your eyes.

If you can still get hold of them, I've always used Mann Frecious Plus filter elements as they are meant to be more effective than the just carbon coated ones.

Edit:- does that engine still use traditional type spark plugs with a crush washer, or has it changed to the newer ones with the concave contact point and a thick copper sealing washer?

The pollen filter was so simple compared to me old mk 4 Golf GTI.

I have a long tubular socket, a Laser Tools offering for removing the plugs from my wife's previous car, a 2002 VW Polo 1.4 16V, when I went to replace the spark plugs on her current 2015 Polo 1.2TSI 110PS, I found that I could not use that socket on these new style of plugs as the insulator has a slightly bigger diameter and the socket fouled before it was down fully over the hex end of these newer plugs, so I had to revert to a normal spark plug socket and an extension.
I mentioned this to Laser Tools just in case no one had mentioned this to them, unfortunately all I got back was "sorry, your Laser Tools socket must have been a rogue one that was wrongly manufactured, consider buying a new one" - which was not what I had expected seeing as it worked okay on any older style of plugs! So I bought a couple of "funny sizes" ie machine shop HSS drills and sorted that issue out myself. Ie opened out the counterbore slightly.

Ah yes, the ones with the concave HT contact point.

I see that your Bosch plugs had a crushable sealing washer, did your new NGK ones have that as well, or a thick solid copper washer?

Not too sure tbh, I did not check. I got the new ngk ones from tps.
