Dunno tried to find out, but couldn't find the keys in the first place.

I've got mine from eBay, original VW ones for £2. :P What a bargain.

Went to halfords last night and tried out some head units.

b4 going in, my money was really on a Sony head unit. had money with me, then as i turned it up, i sounded crap! :(
i reckon it was worse than my current Beta unit!!

switched on alpine then i immediately noticed a much higher quality sound!.... problem is they cost soo much

i wouldnt reckon Sony to any1.

I wouldn't buy from Halfords personally, they are well expensive for car audio!
Check out some mail order companies like http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk
You can get an Alpine CDE 9822 RB for £99.99.
Halfords price £169.99!!

^ That's where I got my head-unit from. :)

I've got the Alpine CDR-9812-RB, which costed me £249.99, but my local dealer (Sextons) is selling it at £349.99 and Motor World £369.99! What the hell do they think they're doing?!

Just out of interest are you going to buy from Halfords or are you just checking them out because you'll get it a lot cheaper online me thinks.

Mate, but seriously websites like CarAudioSecurity.com is so much more cheaper!

My local dealer, Halfords and Motor World is selling my Alpine head-unit for £369.99, but I got it for £249.99! No joke!

See the difference?

It simply means you can play discs which you have burnt yourself on the computer with CD-R/RWs 'cos some old s**t probably can't recognise those "personally made" *ahem* discs.

However this doesn't mean it can play MP3s/WMAs. Sorry!

And the 9825RB is alright, still an Alpine head-unit, which means quality. But if you can afford the "swing series" or one with MX it will sound so much better. I had a something before and now the 9812RB, which sounds so much better, didn't actually thought I could hear the difference. :D

But the 9825RB is a good starter or for your contraint with cash.

but CDs that i burn are from WMA/MP3....... i use Windows media player and if i use that does it burn it on like a normal CD (ie recorded rather than files) Is that ok for that Alpine head unit?
