Polo 6r 1.6TDI rear axle replacement
Hi, my 2010 polo 1.6TDI is using the drum brake on the back. I got a rear axle with disc brake, planning to replace the whole axle. Is it possible for the disc brake axle direct replacing the drum brake axle? Are they in same size? What else i need (tools or bolts) for the installation of the disc brake axle? Can i install the axle directly or need some adjustment on the body?

It's completely the same axle. You could consider to only transfer the brake equipment, including brake lines, and leave the axle in place. Remember to change the hand brake cables too and bleed bleed the brakes.

While you are making this change over, maybe think seriously about buying in a couple of springs to fit to the rear calliper handbrake levers to make sure that they always get returned to the stops when the handbrake is released.
None of these "same/similar" cars were ever fitted with these return springs, but many people, including me have fitted them to a 2002 Polo after having issues with rear brakes dragging slightly and then bought another set for my wife's August 2015 Polo as soon as it was delivered.
If you are interested I can provide the current VW Group part numbers.
Edit:- if you are still planning on swopping over the complete rear "axle", you will need to buy new bolts and nuts for the dampers lower end fitting to the axle, and probably new bolts and nuts for the front end of the "axle".
Buying a Haynes manual would help you with torque settings etc.

I am going to change the whole rear axle. Can you tell me what parts do i need. only bolts and nuts, and hand brake levers?

Also get some brake fluid. And depending on how complete your new rear axle is, brake lines.

Hi RUM4MO, can you tell me more details about the bolts and nuts for the dampers lower end.RUM4MO wrote: Wed Dec 23, 2020 10:34 am While you are making this change over, maybe think seriously about buying in a couple of springs to fit to the rear calliper handbrake levers to make sure that they always get returned to the stops when the handbrake is released.
