Just installed a towbar, I am wondering where is the closest source of 12V directly from the battery. I've installed the bypass relay on the near/left side boot behind the rear lights.
Do I need to bring it to the fusebox or are there any places that's easier to route, I have an inline fuse as well?
My car is a 2015 VW Polo 6C 1.4 TDI.
Many thanks

Re: Towbar bypass relay power
I think it's best to use the fusebox below the steering wheel.

Re: Towbar bypass relay power
Thanks, I will probably do that, I see some empty ways between F42 and F50 and they are outputting 12V when the engine is off when I checked with a multimeter. Do I just use something like (amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07DH4YTBR) to tap into an empty fuseway or are there better methods?iichel wrote: Sun Feb 14, 2021 7:33 pm I think it's best to use the fusebox below the steering wheel.

Re: Towbar bypass relay power
If the towbar loom has some standard power timer terminals, that's even better

Re: Towbar bypass relay power
I am a newbie in cars so don't really know what a standard power timer terminal is.
I am using this wiring anyway which is just the basic universal wiring harness (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003H5FX6Q)
I just remembered I used to have a black box that I pull the fuse out when I switch insurance, so I am probably going to just use that wiring.

Re: Towbar bypass relay power
I would suggest to invest a bit more money in a decent ECS wiring loom for the towbar.
