Coolant leak 1.4 TSI

Post by andy198712 »

Hi,

The car is actually my mums but i tend to do the spannering!

its a 2015 MY 1.4 TSI BlueMotion 150bhp model, lovely car and goes well!

just recent the AC compressor was diagnosed by VW to be faulty so i'll be changing that soon.

but she said the coolant level light came on.

on inspection i can see a trail of coolant on the gearbox and when i follow it back and slide my hand under the black plastic housing of the thermostat and pump i can feel moisture there.

i'm going to get an inspection mirror in there to try and see if i can pin point where its coming from, as i don't really want to replace both the thermostat housing and the water pump unless both are leaking....

has anyone else had this issue? thermostat housing is a favourite of the VW it seems wether they admit it or no
i've seen alot of how to's but there are all for the GTI which has a different lay out.

i'll add some pics

here you can see the trail of coolant

and it comes from under here it seems

cheers

Hi there... what happened with this in the end? Water pump / thermostat housing / something else? - I think I have the same issue with my Mk9 6C 1L Polo Match
