Totally Confused 6c

Picking up a 65 plate 1.0 bluemotion se technology 59 hp on Wednesday with 42k miles.
Phoned original dealer re service and was told cam belt had not been changed.
My independant local garage will do the cambelt and check it over for us.
Just been to the selling dealer who tells me the engine has a camchain so no need to worry.
Totally confused , help!
Looked at engine and pulley drivebelt on drivers side looks newish but there is a black plastic cover but just at the top fifth of the engine the rest is alloy. So chain or belt?

So the workshop supervisor mechanic tells me vw service staff do not know what they are talking about saying it has a chain. Turns out it has a belt after all.
