Infotainment screen

Post by Gertlush »

Hi everyone, first of all as this is my first post, and also my first problem I hope I’m posting in the right place, I have a 2014 1.2 SE Bluemotion.
I understand that the issue with the screen freezing is a common fault on the infotainment system, but I’m wondering how I can fix it, or even if there is a fix, I’ve tried the rebooting, that is holding the power button on the unit for 10 secs, but this didn’t work.
Has anyone out there got any other ideas of how I can fix this problem.
Thanks in advance
John

In most cases it requires a software update to fix this and other issues.
You will need to book the car in with a vw dealer try and find one that is recomended in your area, hope that answers you question

I don’t think there’s any guarantee, although the dealer should know whether there’s a software fix available for the multimedia device in your car to rectify the symptoms you’ve described in your first post.

Agree. And the mk8 Golf seems to be particularly badly affected - not specifically the multimedia system used in the latest Golf but the software in that car in general.

As an update to my problem regarding the screen freezing, I visited a local VAG independent garage that will do a scan and do a software update if one is available, Thayer did mention though that the problem my be the unit that is in the glovebox and if that is the problem it will cost megabucks to replace, anyone else heard of this?

No ,its just uaually like i said a software issue, im a bit puzzled how an indy garage can do a software update to the latest spec from germany ?
surely their only do stuff off the net and not from factory unless they have oddis and payed the big bucks for that package.

someone explain :? or are they going to fit a NEW 5f unit and tell you its faulty ?
