When I put my foot down to accelerate in 6th gear, car over revs when at 3000rpm by about 500rpm and then settles again. Not noticeable In any other gear currently. Any advice would be useful.

Sounds like it could be signs of the clutch slipping.

Yeah, thinking the same. Will get a garage to check it over I think
