2015 6C Xenons - what does this lamp do?!

Hi all,

I picked up this 2015 6C 1.2 TSI Polo Cross for a family member, and have been slowly fettling it. I was getting it ready for its annual inspection, and I noticed one of the lamps (highlighted in the second pic) didn't do anything on either side, despite having a fairly hefty bulb installed. Thinking about it afterwards, there are no DRLs, which I would expect on a 2015 car. Are these meant to be DRLs? I activated DRLs using VCDS, and they didn't light up. Any ideas? It's a pretty big piece of headlamp real estate not to do anything I've searched both here and more widely online, and the OE xenons seem to be rare enough, so not much info.

I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

Those lights are Static cornering lights(SCL).

Kindly post the full vcds autoscan here, so that experts on the forum can help you in right direction.

View this topic your not alone not knowing what that bulb does

Personally I would have thought the DRL’s would be down the outer side of the headlamp unit ?
Are they turned on in the infotainment system?

As @CarbonChaos suggested in the previous post, the DRL’s in the OEM bi-xenon headlamps are located down the outer side - and along bottom outer section - of the headlamp unit. I’ve marked the location in red on the picture below;

And you can see the DRL’s illuminated on the Polo Blue GT in the picture below;
