Short answer is no, not without adding additional hardware ie a after market CDL kit which would probably have its own fob for remote locking/unlocking then you would still have the factory key to start the car.
There were kits out there but expensive,I’m not sure if anyone here has retro fitted the OEM type CDL ? I believe you would need to upgrade control units etc to do so.

You can add a universal kit like this

Or like this, (more "original" look)

Thanks giannis20vt and CarbonChaos for the suggestion
Think I am going to leave it as is for time being. Waiting on the battery to arrive so I can check if the remote button works.

A 'dim' light? What you mean?CarbonChaos wrote: ↑Tue Feb 08, 2022 11:07 am there is no remote function on the key you pictured in the first post ,only a dim light
The 'VW' emblem is a button itself. There is central locking on the car, the key button is not working now as I am waiting on replacement battery.
Re: 2008 Polo Flip key conversion
Hopefully a better picture, you can see the key with the blue 'VW' emblem has a button in the middle compared to the other one.

@POLOZ, don't worry, you are not the first and will not be the last VW Group car owner to make that mistake!
