Rear Beam Axle Bolt.

Post by Brian422 »

I'm contemplating removing and greasing Rear Beam Axle Pivot Bolt (https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/polo ... 00-500020/) however I understand that they must be replaced when changing bush.

The tightening procedure, according to Haynes manual, is Step1 tighten to 45Nm (33 lbf ft), Step2 Angle tighten a further 90 Degrees.

Question : Does Step2 just remove bolt 'stretch' and would it be safe after greasing to just tighten bolt to 45Nm?

Grateful for any advice.

Regards and Thanks
Brian.

Yes, step 2 streches out the bolt.
In my country, and near by countries they always re-use old bolts for subframe etc.

You can check if the bolt is stretched my running a correct size nut. If it goes all the way to the bottom of the threads with no isue the bolt isn't stretched.
