Could I get some help guys would really appreciate it

Post by Pologti6rdon »

So guys first post here hope everyone is doing good first car was a polo gti 6n2 and I'm in a bit of a dilemma,as I want to buy a polo gti 6r 2010 with high mileage
99500 to be exact has apparently full service history and only 5000 pounds so it's more than 3000 pounds cheaper than other polo gti 6r with similar mileage. The dealer will accept credit card and says there is warranty available .maybe you guys have see this car advertised on auto trader?

Anyway I did a few checks like putting in the number plates and looking up the mot history and there is a massive mileage discrepancy ovbisly a tester put in an extra 0

On the 25th march 2014 the car had 24,086 miles and failed the mot on brake hoses
The same day it did the mot again and passed and now had 240,086 miles registered I'm not sure if the dealer knows this issue and that is why the car is so cheap just over 5000 pounds could probably get it for 5 grand or just under

Now my dilemma is I've heard that 2010 6r polo gti have massive issues and usually end up needing a new engine could this be why the car is so cheap?I really want it but I'm scared of getting a lemon what do you guys think?I would post the link to the sale but not sure if that is alloud here

Welcome to the forum @Pologti6rdon.

It’s worth having a read through the posts at the links below. The 1.4 twin charger engine wasn’t without its problems (to put it mildly) when the 6r GTI was new, so I would personally would avoid buying a car with this engine - especially a 12 year old one, as it could be a money pit.

There are some useful links to briskoda.net and seatcupra.net forums in the second post in discussion thread at the link below as the 1.4 twin charger engine was also used in other VAG vehicles.

My advice would be to wait until you can afford a later 6c GTI with the 1.8 turbocharged engine. I had a 1.8 6c GTI that I ran for 4.5 years and it was completely trouble free - the only visits to a garage were for routine servicing.

Edit; if it’s the car at the link below, it’s had some paintwork on the passenger side - the front wing is a different shade of red to the door - so it may have had some bodywork damage at some point.

Thank you my friend i felt that the price was too good to be true then reading all the horror stories I'll take a read of the links you provided and try save for the newer version
Edit yes that's the car in the link thanks mate you saved me 5 grand and alot of stress

If you look at the number plate on the back there is something behind it has the back boot been resprayed?or is those bubbles and rough finish just the poor photo and lighting?

I think you’ve made the right decision.

Difficult to tell from the small images on my phone, but it looks as if the rear number plate may have been stuck on at some point (it’s held on with screws now), and what you can see could be what’s left of the sticky pads that were used to hold it in place.
