Polo 6C Horn and Cruise Buttons

Post by BlueTT »

I have issues with the horn not working from steering wheel, but functioning on an output test.

I also have the cruise control buttons on steering wheel not functioning, but there outputs are being picked up on a diagnostic output test.

The car has not been modified in anyway.

Any help or pointers would be much appreciated.

Thanks

do you hear a click in the BCM when you press the horn? if so, horn(s) defective. And do you have any errors in the BCM or ECU related to cruise control?

The horn works on an output test, no signal value from horn when pressed, but I have values from each of the cruise buttons.

I am advised no relay, not sure about any click sound, I have one fault being displaced regarding cruise, Cruise Control Set Signal ..Static Fault.. P056800 and there is a digital antenna one for DAB that I have ordered a new module for.

You might want to use your DVOM / multimeter to check the continuity of the contacts in the airbag wiring harness and slip ring.

Yes will be doing some more digging, painfully enough, the slip ring has already been replaced due to a failure during the course of this horn and cruise issue, however the harness was not robustly checked to be fair simply a visual which is not enough. I am hedging on the control module in the steering wheel being at fault reading similar VAG tales, was hoping to find someone that had experienced the same phenomena to save a little time and my sanity

Similar experiences may only produce similar results but that's not good enough. We must be sure

Thanks all, have unravelled the harness was replaced with an incorrect part when damaged by the place that replaced faulty clock spring.

New harness fitted, horn and cruise now fully functional.

Excellent, as expected an easy fix but hard to find. Thanks for your feedback.
