Predictive ACC (pACC) with Tolerance option in menu
Predictive ACC (pACC) with Tolerance option in menu
I have also completed an upgrade to predictive ACC on my VW Passat 2017 with infotainment system Discover Pro but I am missing the menu alternative Tolerance. I can see that you ciclo have it available in your car!
If you set the Tolerance to Low, you automatically get the function that if you manually set the speed to 53 km/h on a 50 km/h road, the car will automatically increase to 73 km/h as it approaches a 70 km/h road.
Do anybody know what settings needs to be done on a Discover Pro to get this menu option available?

Hi Limito
Maybe if you post the ID, Coding and Adaptations of your radar, Address 13: Auto Dist. Reg (J428), someone can tell you something about it.

I am not sure if I managed to do it the correct way and if all needed information is available?

Re: Predictive ACC (pACC) with Tolerance option in menu
What would happen if you activate Byte 8 Bit 1 on your radar?
It may be necessary to reboot 5F.

Re: Predictive ACC (pACC) with Tolerance option in menu
Thank you for your support!
Now I have Byte 08: bit 0=1 and bit 1=0 and it means Zul Regelabweichung=Klein. Do you think this could be wrong? I think I have changed it in the past from Gross to Klein.
How do I reboot 5F unit? By rebooting the infotainment system?
Does the 13 unit not include heating?

Re: Predictive ACC (pACC) with Tolerance option in menu
Draw your conclusions, when I coded my radar the pACC menus appeared immediately on the screen as shown in the first post... with the 'Tolerance' submenu...
---
Reboot 5F:
Press the ON/OFF button for 10 sec.
Your DPro will reboot from the VW Logo or your boot screen (GTE?).
Our radars, behind the VW Logo on the upper grille, do not have a lens.
I assume that adaptation 'Heated Lens' is for the 'old' radars with a lens that were installed in the lower grille.
---
In my case, when I set the Tolerance to High, my wife's Golf reacts more friendly/comfortably to the speed of the road, that is, it does the same thing but brakes or accelerates more smoothly, that is my feeling. Then there are also the driving profiles (FPA - MODE button) that also intervene in the reactions of the vehicle systems...
Currently I only use the pACC for long trips and for test runs, sometimes all of these driver assistance systems are crazy or exhausting depending on your own driving style.
Hopefully full autonomous driving will be a reality soon.
Re: Predictive ACC (pACC) with Tolerance option in menu
If you set your Tolerance to Low on your car, don't you get the function that if you manually set the speed to e.g. 53 on a 50 road it remembers the difference and automatically increases to 73 on a 70 road?
The fact that you have Tolerance available, I think it is because you have MIB2.5 in your car with newer navigation firmware while I have MIB2. I thought maybe there was an easy way around it.

Re: Predictive ACC (pACC) with Tolerance option in menu
If I set the Tolerance to Low my wife's golf reacts too early to traffic signals and it does so abruptly and as I say too early.
The drivers of the vehicles following us (traffic conditions) must think that someone with very low abilities is driving our vehicle.
It's really annoying and dangerous, at least where I live. I don't even want to imagine it with the driving styles in Italy or other places where gaining 1cm or 1sg on other drivers is a real victory.
I don't know if with Low Tolerance the system remembers that difference of 3 km/h that you explain when recognizing the new speed of the traffic signals.
Does VW explain it somewhere? I guess not, just like hundreds of other circumstances in their driver assistance systems.

Re: Predictive ACC (pACC) with Tolerance option in menu
If you change the Tolerance value in your menu for example from Low to High, can you see that the long coding for Byte 8 is then changed as well? Just to verify that Zul Regelabweichung refer to the same thing?

Re: Predictive ACC (pACC) with Tolerance option in menu
No, the coding does not change.
On the other hand, I have verified that by setting the Tolerance to 'low' in the menu (submenu) on the 5F screen for pACC, when the camera detects the next speed signal, it remembers the speed differential I set. That is, and for example, from 60+4 it goes to 84 or 44 or 124 Kmph, that is, the system behaves as you commented.
The same does not happen for Medium or High Tolerance, for example, from 64 it goes to 80 or 40 or 120 Kmph.

Re: Predictive ACC (pACC) with Tolerance option in menu
I have exact the same settings except for:
[LO]_traffic_sign_recognition_0x21_msg_bus: where I have Databus extended instead. I could not find [VN]_CAN_Extended as an alternative. I do not know what it will affect?
However it seems that the Tolerance setting you have available in your menu of some reason is not available or visible in any VCDS settings. For me it seems to be very strange but maybe unfortunately the truth?

Re: Predictive ACC (pACC) with Tolerance option in menu
I don't know exactly what you mean, however these are the possible codings with the EXPerimental label for VCDS ORIginal.
Note: please do not take into account the coding because I no longer remember when I made these captures or the possible changes I made later, it's better to look at the last autoscan that I posted in my thread.
The EXPerimental VCDS labels for coding contain exactly the same information as the ODIS-E coding (VCP too).
I guess it all depends on the level of vehicle equipment (HW and SW), tools used and their updates, and personal skills/knowledge to handle them.
Maybe I will buy the OBDELEVEN with ULTIMATE pack when the 'smart'phone is a more pleasant and safer device, hmm... Never? ...
In the meantime I settle with ODIS (ori), VCDS (fast) and VCP (pro) for my 'routines'.

Re: Predictive ACC (pACC) with Tolerance option in menu
Thanks for all information!
I have used ODIS and VCDS in the past (pirate versions because it is what you can afford ) but is now using OBDELEVEN because it is so fast and simple to use. Plug in the device in your car and connect wireless by mobile in seconds. The app is so simple to use with excellent graphic, automatic logging of every change, unlimited number of cars, cheap etc.
What I was trying to explain was that there doesn't seem to be any VCDS settings how to enable the Tolerance to make it visible in the menu. It may or may not be there, depending perhaps on the version of the navigation firmware being used?

Exactly that, OBDELEVEN does it all for you, so your intellectual/creative abilities are reduced to "00", all neatly packaged.
You do exactly what others tell you to do or think, which is customary in all facets of life of the world we live in today.
Having tools that allow you creativity is sometimes necessary to achieve the desired goal (the smartphone is perhaps the worst of the creative tools ).
Discovering what others did not do in all world is in my humble opinion the most pleasant satisfaction that exists, perhaps it is the most powerful drug of those already known. The excitement is extreme and pleasantly long-lasting... a gift from the Masters of the Universe .
