Is the 6C fromt bumper the same as the 6R GTI?

The bumpers look pretty similar while the prices are everything but that.

Could one buy a standard 6C front bumper and install 6R GTI grills?

The lower grilles are very different - hopefully the pictures below illustrate the differences.

Your first picture is not a GTI but a standard bumper.

This is a GTI bumper, the resemblance is strong:

As far as I can see the 6C has vertical mounting clips for the center grill, while 6R GTI like ( 6R) has diagonal
And the holes for the fog lights look identical
I think you could pull it off if you use a zip tie to hold the center grill. Assemble the center one off the car then put it on.

Oops! That’ll teach me to assume that a picture of a Polo with GTI alloys is actually a GTI .

They do seem DYI-able. I think I might upgrade to a 6C front bumper and maybe I'll order some cheap fakes of Aliexpress to test. If this was that easy I feel like most enthusiasts that own a polo would do it so I'm not sure about it.

Just find a way to secure the center grill, the rest is easy.
You can use a zip tie, or screws.
