2.0TSI CDLJ Swap into AWD Ibiza 6J - ABS Help

Hi All,

If you don't remember be I am the guy who a year or so ago was implementing a full AWD swap into a 2010 6J Seat Ibiza, I am pleased to confirm it was a success, and a massive thanks to iichel and ciclo for helping me with some of the wiring and coding niggles that occurred.

With the AWD being such a success, I decided to look for an engine change, and have landed on an EA113 CDL 2.0TSI from a facelift Audi S3 8P.

I have been building the engine for the last 6 months and have acquired a gold dust CDLJ Polo WRC that I will be using to run the engine management (PN: 6R0907115).

The next step I need to start investigating is the ABS side of things, as I want to run as close to an OEM solution as I possibly can. From what I've researched i've been able to determine that the Polo WRC being a M/Y: 2013-14 runs Bosch ESP 9.0i (pq) instead of my current 8.2i

the legend that is polo.blue has already completed an esp 9.0i conversion, but from talking to him he ended up landing on a standalone engine management for his 2.0tsi swap, which I'd like to avoid.

His esp 9.0i conversion was documented fantastically and will be a big help for my ABS conversion, but i was curious about long coding.

There is not a lot of information about the coding parameters to keep the ABS happy with the CDLJ engine code. I'm not so worried about the LHD/RHD issue, as long as I can get some ABS long coding accepted.

I am presuming I will be needing an AS 9.0i abs pump (PN: 6R0 907 375 AS) but if anyone thinks otherwise please do let me know.

the ECU I have for the CDLJ is immo off, and I have a friend who can do immo off at the cluster, but it would be nice to re-activate the immo at some point for a potential KESSY conversion (wishful thinking).

So my question is, does anyone have or know of a solid long coding string for a polo WRC, that I would be able to adjust for my VIN + tweak for potential RHD parameters?

My brake setup is 323mm 4 piston Brembo Junior from a mk1 LCR and 310mm vented rears from an 8P RS3, so the closer I can get to that in terms of ABS brake size parameters, the nicer the ABS might feel. I know the max for 9.0i is 312/232mm but that is a big step forward from my current 288/232 coding configuration.

you can not code it for the brake setup you have, that doesn't exist.
what you can do is code it for the brake pressure distribution that is closest to your preference
256mm/200mm drums
256mm/232mm discs
288mm/200mm drums
288mm/232mm discs
312mm/232mm discs (9.0i only)

Yeah that's the plan, go for 312 232 on esp 9.0i, I'm just a bit worried about getting the long coding for CDLJ engine

The wrc comes with its own bn (iirc) esp firmware while Polo 6r was delivered with as. It might be worthwhile to compare units to the audi s1 as well since the CDL + quattro setup is factory in that car.

Oh right okay ill have a look into it

S1 Quattro is on PQ26 (6C) architecture, and are EA888.3 not EA113 engines

Closest match is the audi A1 quattro, but they're even harder to find parts for than a WRC. I know they run 8X PN ECU and ABS pumps, but I've only ever seen one and was eye Wateringly expensive so wanted to try avoid that if I could

Do you know of anywhere I can find out what VW shipped the WRC with?

Look for polo wrc vcds autoscans on the internet. I'll post one later.

I think the abs controller was fit to find Ibiza's as well

Yeah I can't see how they would have gone to the extent of a whole abs module just for the WRC with no cross compatibility, especially considering it was a FWD architecture aswell

Hopefully with some luck and a few wiring changes I should be able to get it working OEM

I'll be using a Toledo NH cluster same as I am now, just a petrol 2016 onwards version so I can use the MFSW steering wheel buttons also

amazing thankyou so much!

And it looks like good news, the BG ABS pumps are Ibiza compatible, and lots of Second hand units on ebay for cheap, so will definitely be able to make that work

I have sourced a full body harness from a 2013 Ibiza Cupra, which will already have the petrol differences and ABS wiring differences sorted, so that puts me a step closer
