Help a newbie

Post by RealInsky »

Hello guys,
I'm new here and im also a new Polo owner. I've bought a 2021 Comfortline Polo service car and i have some doubts in this case regarding the infotainment. I have mirror link however my car does not have navigation and it says it has not been purchased, when i press the "view" button the steering wheel i have the info on the dashboard screen "not available" and while browsing the infotaiment i tried checking Vehicle status and it also says not available.
What do you guys think of this? Is it the version that i bough or is there something odd?
Thank you for your help :)

I would guess it's the version that you have. If you have the navi button on the info screen then a main dealer can probably activate it for you (at a cost).

@RealInsky; Based on what I’ve read on other VW forums, not having VW sat nav is no great loss. I don’t have it in my 2020 Polo GTI+ so don’t have any personal experience of using it but if I do need to use sat nav, I use a phone-based app such as Waze or Google Maps.

I am also an avid user of Google Maps and will not pay a vehicle manufacturer to gouge me for something I would never use anyway.

On the topic of Google Maps and Waze, I do prefer the satellite mode (where one can see buildings and terrain) when using Google Maps which Waze doesnt seem to support. On the other hand I like that Waze informs me of speed cameras, traffic, pot holes, etc while driving. As a result I enable both while driving and keep the Google Maps screen displayed.

I realise that Google Maps also informs one of speed cameras but that is only when using navigation.

Your probably right, i just wanted to make sure i was receiving everything i paid for. What bothers me the most is the fact the "View" button on the steering wheel does nothing, when i press it it says that its not available and while checking on the car settings below of were you set the privacy thing it says "Vehicle status - no licence purchased" for example i cannot see the tire pressure, i can reset it but i cannot see what pressure each tire is. Its my first polo and VW car just want to make sure that the car is how its suppose to since its a service car and not a brand new one. Pretty much just want to make sure im not being robed ahaha

The view button is used for switching between the screens in the AID behind the steeringwheel

1st view 2 dials with small window in between (navi, phone, radio, vehicle status etc.)
2nd view big screen for navi etc. (speed and gear displayed in the bottom of the AID)
3rd view 2 screens with 4 different info blocks (i.e. radio, phone, navi, leftover distance etc.) with small window in between (navi, phone, radio, vehicle status etc.)

You can't see what the individual tire pressure is.
The Polo uses the ABS sensors for the TPMS.
So no values for each tire.

Thank you very much for this and the view button reply also. I have one last question in case someone can help me. When using Hill control it takes maybe 1 or 2 seconds for it to release the card. For example, i go to a complete stop on a steep road when releasing the brake, after putting the car in first gear I can feel it kinda holding the car and even preventing it from going forward, I have to wait 1 or 2 seconds and then it starts moving normally. If I don't wait and press the gas I can hear a metal rubbing sound on the back suspension or back wheels I'm not sure. Is this normal? Do Polos take a bit to release the car ?

Mine is a DSG but on a incline hill, I do hear the rear disks when pulling up.
I guess it is normal, the car tries to prevent you from rolling back.
When you drive away immediately the brakes are still on.
