Re: Oil leak
I'd think that it is a serious issue with one of the camshaft variable timing pulleys - like I suggested in your posting elsewhere, so stopping using this car until that is repaired is my advice.

Re: Oil leak
So I went to the mechanic after removing the top cover that covers the timing belt he found the camshaft variator bolts loose. After tightening the oil loss stopped. I post some photos (not mine) to show what I'm talking about. Attention, one of the mechanics told me that this is not the first VW AE211 engine that this has happened in that workshop, mine is the second.

Re: Oil leak
Still can't see the pictures, sorry.
This is quite an important issue with these engines, so people should take action as soon as this happens to their 1.0TSI engine, in UK at least, I'd doubt if VW Group will step in and recall the cars, it will be totally up to individual owners to check and catch this early and get it resolved by a VW Group workshop, there should be a prescript'd work procedure covering this, and that will include all parts that need replacing FOC, so don't let ignorance leave you having to pay up for a new engine - that would work a lot!

Re: Oil leak
The 1.2TSI only got variable timing pulley on the inlet cam shaft, and initially some of them also suffered from their screws slackening off - their screws are on the inside face of the inlet cam shaft pulley.
I still make that part of my annual checks when I service my wife's August 2015 VW Polo 1.2TSI, so far so good, but I'll continue checking these screws along with the visible condition of the cam belt at every annual service, for me it just makes a lot of sense.

Re: Oil leak
Just a up date to see no oil every thing its dry and work fine. My advice is to take a look at yours it's very easy to remove the cover cover it has 1 screw and 2 side clips

Re: Oil leak
Thanks J, just checked mine and it's ok, but as you said, it's easy enough to check it, and definitely worth looking at for peace of mind.

Re: Oil leak
Once again, people with the EA211 1.2TSI 16V should also check this annually if only to avoid trouble, though that applies to the previous version of Polo/Ibiza/Fabia.
Re: Oil leak
What model year is this an issue on?
