P189C help

Hi,

My car is barely driving with the spanner appearing by the gears on the dashboard. It’s been at a garage for 3 weeks with them saying it was the mechatronics unit. They changed this and changed the gearbox 3 times as well as changing any seals. This didn’t fix the issue as then they had the code p189C code. They said it would be the wiring as the mech unit had been replaced aswell as a different gearbox from a running polo gti. However now they say they cannot remove the code as the car has ghost immobiliser so they would need to access the wires through the front panel. Any advice would be great as this issue has been going on for almost a month now

Has anyone had this P189C error code and how was it fixed.

I have seen in a video (in Spanish) that once the new seals and the new mechatronics are installed, a basic learning adjustment must be made in group 60.

If you have VCDS take a look at Address 02: Auto Trans in the Basic settings.
