2014 polo 6r bcm upgrade.

Post by JB_Solerz »

Hi,
I am currently upgrading my bcm from 6r0937087P to a 7h0937090B however on doing so the windows no longer work and Instrument cluster not responding to turn signal or headlight activation. I have found documentation on how to fix the issue but it all uses premade looms. I have the experience and equipment to make my own looms but do not know what cable ends pair together or what looms are needed.

Re: 2014 polo 6r bcm upgrade.

Post by ciclo »

Hi,

When installing the new BCM you must transfer the old codings from the old BCM and Gateway to the new BCM and "Gateway".
http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.ph ... eplacement
If memory serves me right, I think 002300 is the GW coding for your 6R RHD. :?:

Those images that you show for BCM MAX wiring adaptation are not for your European 6R RHD, they are for India 6R RHD.

For wiring, use these guides for your BCM adaptation:

- https://www.uk-polos.net/viewtopic.php?p=514815#p514815

or
- viewtopic.php?p=529913#p529913

or this guide if you do not currently plan to install wiring for automatic lights.
- viewtopic.php?p=520951#p520951

You must take into account that your fuse box is rotated 180º with respect to the 6R LHD.
It is possible that with the BCM 7H0 937 090 B it is necessary to install new CAN lines between the instrument cluster and the BCM. (see installation guides)

From here you can download the wiring diagrams in case you need to consult:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... drive_link
The diagrams from the 2009 and 2018 Amarok, and from the 2009 and 2015 Transporter will help you better understand the 6R diagrams.

If you keep this thread active I will help you on some other things that need to be fixed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

edit:

The way to get rid of address 61 from the GW installation list:

- Enable address 61 in Gateway installation list.
- Go to address 61 and code all Bytes to 00.
- Return to GW installation list and disable the address 61.
- Go to Autoscan and Click on Gateway installation list button.
- Click on Clear All DTCs.

The address 61 should no longer be present in the Autoscan.

Thanks for helping

I have installed the new can lines. And the windows and IC are now functioning.

I am a little confused with the bcm to fuse loom that is in all the documentation you have provided.
Image

The 2 questions I have.

1) Is it needed In my scenario?
I am planning on installing RLS and auto light just not at this current time.

2) If the loom is needed I have the wiring as;
BCM WHITE 2 -> SB39B
BCM WHITE 68 -> SB39B ORIGINAL

BCM BLACK 2 -> SB59B
BCM BLACK 63 -> SB59B ORIGINAL

BCM BLACK 62 -> SB34B with original daisy chained

Is this correct?

EDIT/UPDATE:
I have ordered the required hardware for the rls and auto lights retrofit excluding wiring. However in the installation guides it mentions buying a wiring loom for daylight running
lights but all the links show no results.

The 2 questions I have.

1) Is it needed In my scenario?
I am planning on installing RLS and auto light just not at this current time.

2) If the loom is needed I have the wiring as;
BCM WHITE 2 -> SB39B
BCM WHITE 68 -> SB39B ORIGINAL

BCM BLACK 2 -> SB59B
BCM BLACK 63 -> SB59B ORIGINAL

BCM BLACK 62 -> SB34B with original daisy chained

Is this correct?
1) The BCM Max 'adaptation' is mandatory in your scenario or any other.
2) Yes.

Don't forget the new electrical jumper/bridge on the J331 relay (follow the installation guides) - 'place it in the large slots on the relay bracket' -.

EDIT/UPDATE:
I have ordered the required hardware for the rls and auto lights retrofit excluding wiring. However in the installation guides it mentions buying a wiring loom for daylight running
lights but all the links show no results.
You can make these two/three wires yourself.
Where are your DRLs currently located?

Hi

Now that all the parts have arrived I have restarted the bcm upgrade. However, I can not seem to find the correct relay to bridge. the pdfs given seem to have a different relay board configuration than my own.
the 1st 646 relay (in the position where the j331 relay should be) is for the fuel pump.

Thanks for the help so far.

Hopefully on the final stretch just repinning the light swich T17 to the new 10 and 2 connections.

on all the documentation T17/6 is vacant however I seem to have it populated. Do I just remove and isolate it or does it need connecting somewhere?

Also the current T17/17 goes to bcm white 34. And unsure on what needs doing as the documentation either has it vacant and you add it to 43 Or already installed and nothing else is mentioned

The documentation I'm using:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cXw67i ... 9R6DO/view
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2nv91 ... N3bT1BRvUA

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT:

while trying to find more information about the above, I realized that the document below has the dimmer t6/3 replacement going to bcm white 1 instead of bcm white 4.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2nv91 ... uGBIub5Weg

also ignore the part about T17/17 i was misstaken.
It's t17/16 that you replace.

In your case, you must remove and isolate T17/6 (DRL/TFL* Diode :arrow: 58 for POS/Dimmer/Lincense Plate Lights with BCM High).

A trick that is rather a botch job.(OEM)
Image
You must follow the electrical flow in the diagrams.
It was later corrected on other 6R family PQ25 models.

In short, you must remove and isolate T17/6.
With the BCM Max installed, the activation signal for the DRL/TFL goes through T17/3, or T10/9 in case of installing the new wiring for auto lights. From here to T73b/29 (BCM input signal).

Then you will have to install two new wires for the two BCM output signals that go to the bulbs or LED module (depends on your lighting configuration).

I have now finished the installation and coding.

However;
The dipped beams are constantly on even after ignition and key have been removed. Outside of ch lh time.

The main beams are not activated by the rls

The side lights do not work altogether. Except for ch lh lights

I'm a little confused as some instructions seem inconsistant . As og T17/16 is grey yellow But the installation say grey blue witch is T17/17
the diagram shows og T17/3 going to T10 /7 however you have said in the post T17/3 should be t10/9

From wire tracing I come to the conclusion that you replace T17/16 at T10/8 to T73a/45,
T17/9 at T10/4 to T73b/43,
T17/3 at T10/2 to T73b/29.
Og T17/16 then goes to T73b/7
Og T17/9 then goes to T73a/6
With og T17/3, T17/7 and T17/6 being removed and isolated.
Below is the repinning diagram I followed. And the T17 connector in my polo.

I apologize for the following words if they might cause you discomfort, it is not my intention:

The first thing you should have done is post the images with the original wiring of your 6R (as you have seen in the tutorials), because there are substantial differences in the original wiring between some 6R and others depending on equipment, place of manufacture or country of sale.
It is for this reason that I made 'individualized' installation tutorials, requesting those images (T17 and T6 connectors, relay carrier, fuse box, etc.) to those who asked me to manufacture the wiring looms for BCM adaptation. (something I stopped doing because I already wanted to forget about these processes)
'Nothing' is inconsistent or seems inconsistant in my tutorials, they are specific and perfect tutorials for a specific 6R.

That is, you launched into this BCM adaptation without real knowledge or study of what you were going to do.
You don't even provide a scan of your 6R.

As soon as possible, I'll take a look at your previous post to try to figure out (like a magician) what's going on.
I will continue to help you, please be patient, thanks.

Please post a full fresh Autoscan to check 'that' new BCM coding you've done.
If you don't, I couldn't continue to help you. 🤷‍♂️

Clarifications on what you say I have said:
JB_Solerz wrote: Fri Aug 18, 2023 9:51 am I'm a little confused as some instructions seem inconsistant . As og T17/16 is grey yellow But the installation say grey blue witch is T17/17
- Depending on the Model Year and equipment, T17/16 can be grey/blue or grey/yellow. On your 6R it's grey/yellow, it's the power signal that comes out of the light switch (output signal) for 58 signal when a non-MAX BCM is installed.
T17/17 is Grey/Blue in all cases/Model year, which is the input 58 signal to illuminate the light switch.

Note: in the autoscan of the first post of this thread, the BCM is coded for an electrical installation without Dimmer (fixed value).
Does your 6R have a Dimmer installed next to the light switch, or is it just the headlights height adjuster? Take a picture.

firstly I appreciate and thank you for all the help you have given to me and others.
You and the guides you make have been great help.

regarding the confusion over the T17/3 - T10/9. I was up very late when writing the post the T10/7 should have said T10/2. I was referring to the red T10 while you were referring to the black t10 that goes straight to the new switch. I agree that the diagram is correct.

Please try this new BCM coding:
3DB02FB808E1240093390EF02CEB0ED1FFC061FF60042041200000020000

Please tell us the result. Don't forget to also check the reverse light, rear fog light, brake lights, and license plate lights.

Although so that everything was like factory the final BCM coding should be this:
3DB02FB808E1240093390EB02CEB0ED15FC0612F60042041200000030000
...but I imagine there are still some lights that are not under BCM MAX control, or you have some type of aftermarket light installed.
...so just use this last BCM coding to find out what are the deficiencies of the lights.

Later I will thoroughly review your schematics.
Thanks for posting them. 8)

Your sketches for '6R Europe' BCM MAX adaptation are correct and easy to understand.👌
