Sound insulation

Hi,
Guys how are your cars at highwa? if you ask me it's a bit noisy.
Any tips, tricks?

Yeah pretty noisy at motorway speeds but it seems to be mainly tyre and road noise. Wind noise for me doesn't seem to become noticeable until you're doing speeds that you would lose your license being caught doing.

I've gone for the approach of making the noise you want to hear louder by fitting an amp and a subwoofer but that's just replacing one loud noise for another.

I'd be curious to see how effective adding butyl and or foam sound deadening to the plastic wheel arch liners and the backside of the wheel wells in the boot would be. You could maybe add butyl deadening to the front wheel arches in addition to some on the liners but would be concerned they may become moisture traps and cause premature rust on the body.

I see in forums where the temperatures are polar in which lining almost the entire interior body with insulating foam becomes a necessity.
I suppose there will be different qualities of foam to prevent moisture condensation.

I have no complaints about the noise seeping into the interior in my 6R 'TSI' on highways at high speed (although I haven't driven at speeds that are excessive or inappropriate for traffic conditions in a long time,-man ). Perhaps the part of the trunk/boot is the one that needs a little more insulation, but I'm talking about small details.

I would like to test/compare how the trunk insulation would be with some of those insulating foams. Some day in the future I will.

Note: Sometimes due to traffic conditions make it necessary to use the Stage-1 upgrade, it is just at this moment when the filtered sound inside is perfect.

quite extreme. I like the inner fender idea but big problem it will trap moisture and cause a rust party.

If only be the cloth inner fender from some other car would fit

I think you could get away with putting patches of the butyl deadening on the back side of the plastic arch liners and maybe some foam in areas that aren't in very close proximity to the body.

There may be some sort of thin carpet/fabric that you could cover the exposed side of the plastic liner with. The rear arches on the Mk7 fiestas seem to have a plastic liner with a fabric overlay that takes the edge off the noise of stones getting thrown up into it.
