Wing Mirror Adjustment Issue

Post by nitrox8760 »

Hey all, I recently had a repair done to my smashed driver side wing mirror on my 2017 polo, all looks good however I can now no longer adjust my mirror glass far enough out and at full adjustment I can still see half of my car in the mirror. It was not like this before.

I know I could take it back for them to repair but I have very limited time and need my car for work daily so if I could easily fix this myself it would be much easier.

I have seen elsewhere on other cars that this issue can be fixed by simply pushing the glass into another position but I feel like I'll brake the mirror doing this and it doesn't seem to want to move at all. I've also heard that sometimes wing mirrors may have two "modes" for left hand and right hand drive and that mine may be stuck in left hand drive mode rather than right.

If anyone has had a similar issue or understands the mechanisms within the mirror and may understand the issue your help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

VW does not make exterior mirrors with two positioning modes.

Either they did not install the mirror correctly or they did not install the correct mirror for a RHD vehicle.
Is it a mirror with electric or manual adjustment? If the part installed is not an OE replacement, these anomalies may occur.

From what you've said, it seems like they installed a left mirror for an LHD vehicle.
