Does anyone have a idea what would bring on a EPC light on a polo 9N

You could also do a diagnostics scan of the car with ie obd11, carly or vcds

Unfortunately, as said above.
If it is a brake light switch failure, try to get the revised design version.
Though, again as said in the above posting, lots of other possibilities so guessing is not a good idea.

It could be anything from an A/C issue to misfire detected on one of the cylinders, or indeed the brake light switch. A cheap code reader will help find the DTC(s) and you can take it from there. My old 2002 occasionally sets a DTC but I know it well enough to ignore them and let the lamp reset.
