New to me Polo GTI+ 2021. Manual

Post by Seedling92 »

Good Morning all,

I have recently purchased a 2021 polo GTI+ in manual transmission.

I have looked online and I can't seem to find any other model in a manual.

Is this going to give me any problems down the line in regards to mapping it, modifying it etc?

Also, any hints and tips are welcome!

Thanks.

I see your location is Kingston. If that’s Kingston upon Thames in the UK, then your manual GTI+ is a very rare car for the UK!

When the AW polo GTI / GTI+ was launched back in 2018, it was only available with DSG transmission - VW’s promotional material did state that a 6 speed manual would follow. However, very few were built with a manual transmission and I wasn’t aware any manual GTI’s / GTI+’s came to the UK.

I don’t know if mapping your car will be an issue for tuning companies - the best way to find out would be to contact a few. I’d stick to reputable tuning companies so if you do get your car mapped and have any issues, then hopefully a reputable company will provide a decent after sales service. Be aware that the clutch in mk7 / mk7.5 VW Golf GTI’s and R’s with manual transmission is quite weak and prone to slipping in cars that have been mapped, so assuming the same - or similar - clutch is used in your car, that might also be an issue in your manual GTI+. Therefore, if you do find a reputable company who can map your car, you may need to consider upgrading your clutch.

Thanks for your reply!

Yep I'm from Kingston upon Thames, glad to hear it's a rare car and the information to as why!

I have read the same in regards to the clutch, so I'll do some research to see what would work well!
