Aftermarket reversing camera
Hi all,
I am considering having a reversing camera retrofitted to my 2016 Polo 6C. I've found two companies that can do it. Both will install the camera above the numberplate, but the camera software technology looks different (the latter looks to offer more options but does not display the parking sensors). Has anyone got experience with either of these two companies?

Why not choose the emblem camera?
Better overview and no problems with dirt and water collecting on the lens
Your first link is installation in the emblem

That picture is just an example, the 6C doesn't support the badge-mounted camera unfortunately.Maarten wrote: Fri Jul 26, 2024 10:45 am Why not choose the emblem camera?

In this forum the 6C does support the camera in the emblem since someone very crazy decided to make an adapter with autocad.

Re: Aftermarket reversing camera
Those are most likel the exact same thing.
As an extra question, what is needed to use the highline version they're advertising compared to lowline?
Is there extra control module for the highline emblem camera or is that usually contained in the camera itself with connection to canbus wiring?
Lowline is usually just video feed into media box and reverse signal tapped off reverse light wiring.
Highline is canbus triggered.

That's a low line unit. Reverse signal taken off the reverse light wiring.peter_dk25 wrote: Fri Jul 26, 2024 2:50 pm Complete set:

Highline is connected to canbus, operates on reverse message on canbus, sends latch open signal to canbus.
Adapters and cameras can be found on Aliexpress. They are actual VW parts from the Chinese VW market.
Just can't tell if there's a separate unit for the canbus comms or whether it is built in.

In theory, the RVC High 5Q0 980 556 B (KA2) could be installed in a POLO 6C by connecting it to the CAN Bus of the infotainment system.

Re: Aftermarket reversing camera
I've retrofitted an emblem highline camera for my polo 6c, got the camera from Aliexpress, advertised as OEM 2gd837469 highline emblem camera

The camera come pre-parameterized with passat b8 settings, don't think you can get polo 6c parameters. Work without any problems once installed and coded except for the need to calibration, has not got around to calibration yet to remove the error code. The default settings work better than expected. Can't change adaptation either since I cant get correct security access code but long coding work without problem.
I've also used the fitting bracket from Aliexpress. The design is not as good as ciclos design. You need to remove rear wiper motor, remove camera from emblem, fit emblem and bracket to tailgate, put back rear wiper motor then finally put camera back onto emblem.

Try it.
It could also be 20103.
The RVC High 5Q0980556B can also be installed on the bumper.
BTW,

No copyright.
