I have a 2022 Polo R Line with 17 inch Bergamo alloy wheels. It has a puncture repair kit instead of a spare wheel. How easy (or not) would it be to remove the repair kit, it seems to be well stuck down, and replace it with a 17 inch spacesaver spare wheel?.
Thanks for your comments.

Re: Space saver spare wheel.
My 2023 GTi didn’t have a spare , it’s a bit of a faf to sort this out , I bought a space saver wheel off eBay, it turned out to be for a Golf gti not a polo , ( doesn’t fit , different stud pattern! ) eventually got the correct wheel , had to buy a jack , and the big plastic nut that holds the wheel down ! Annoyingly the rear trim panel has to be changed also because it’s shaped to accommodate the shape of the wheel, ( my car has 18” wheels and the battery is in the boot , it may not be an issue if the wheel is smaller! ) .
Cost a fortune in the end ! The moral of this story is ! WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU HAD A PUNCTURE ???

The moral of this story is... specify it as an option when ordering the car
Think it cost me £250 for mine.
Obviously not an applicable comment if buying 2nd hand.

Re: Space saver spare wheel.
I bought a spacesaver, jack etc for my 22 gti but didn't modify the boot space. The wheel doesn't quite fit so we put in padding etc so it wouldn't move. The floor doesn't sit flush but is supported by the extra padding and the dog doesn't care! The spare will be removed when i sell the car.
Re: Space saver spare wheel.
Although I spec’d a space saver for this car, when I go anywhere substantially far from home I throw in the back seat the spare full size wheel that I bought for the previous car. This was the case when I headed 2500 miles to south Spain and Portugal this summer. A space saver is nice to have but when you are traveling over a thousand miles at 50mph with a space saver fitted, you will be glad you have a full sized spare

Thanks everyone for your comments but I don't think it's worth all the hassle I'll stick with the puncture kit.

What I've done is keep a old tyre, thats still legial.
as most tyre places will not keep our tyres in stock and can take 2-3 days to get a tyre.
So if you get a issue yes your still need to call recovery, but you can get them to put on your old tyre until they have a replacement. Else the car could be off the road.
