My Father's Tiguan 2.0 TDI

Post by fluidicjoy »

Hello everyone! I've wanted to create a thread for my father's Tiguan 2.0 TDI which has slowly but steadily seen its share of OEM upgrades! My father bought this Indium Grey Tiguan in December 2019, and it was assembled in the Aurangabad, India plant sometime in June 2019. The ideas, inspiration and execution of these retrofits would not have been possible without the gracious information shared by VAG experts around the world, along with the curiosity and desire to explore the potential of the beautiful MQB platform. I would like to use this thread to document some of the key moments in the retrofit journey, along with sharing information on the upkeep and maintenance operations performed on this vehicle.

Overall, I believe the Tiguan has a very healthy equipment list, but it was still lacking all the modern features offered in Europe, and so the retrofit journey for the below pieces of equipment began, and is now nearly complete!

Minimal Functional Accesory Pack

Post by fluidicjoy »

Our Tiguan came with a healthy equipment list, but the dealer did not provide a lot of useful accessories. I found the following accessories useful and sourced them from Aliexpress. I like to call them Minimal Functional Accessories (MFA)

Battery Cover
The stock 2.0 TDI engine came without a battery cover, so I found one from Aliexpress and placed that on. It looks much neater now in my opinion.

Rear AC Foot Vent Cover
Since India is a high dust/debris country, I did not want the AC vent to be full of crap, and found this online. It's been quite useful, and should fit many MQB cars with a similar foot vent design.

Aluminium Pedal Caps
The stock Accelerator and Brake Pedals came devoid of Sporty metallic caps, so I also found them from Aliexpress at a reasonable price ($20). The OEM one was being offered by the dealer at about $100, but the one I have is exactly identical, even with a scratched part number :D

These have to be the very first things I've installed on the car way back in 2019!

Thanks for sharing. That might be the MK3 vent cover. The ones on our cars might be this shape. There are plenty of sellers. Aliexpress is still restricted in India, and so I am unable to find more suitable links. Yes, I genuinely have found them useful in the last few years I've had them.

Welcome back again, with the tiggy!
Wish to see the details of retrofits, from the story teller himself 😁

I've also installed the rear footwell AC vent mesh grill in my roki, long time ago. Just that, I forgot to document it in my thread.
