Can't unlock car

Hi, I have a 2017 Polo (6R I think)

Earlier today my car wouldn't lock with the fob. I tried spare fob, also didn't work, but I was able to lock manually. Just now tried to unlock and neither fob nor manual unlock works, I'm totally locked out of the vehicle.

Any advice? I need to travel in the morning. Thanks

Try press and hold trunk release button.
Doesn't the physical key turn in the barrel?

Thanks but no luck. Key turns in barrel but does nothing.

Also, temp is approx 1 degree c if that's relevant

I'm an idiot, it was the key fob battery.
Had no idea it would prevent manual entry.

it should allow manual entry with a dead battery. did you try to open it manually afterwards?

Manual entry now works with battery replaced, but didn't work with dead battery. I would have thought that manual entry shouldn't need the battery but apparently it does.

You should always be able to enter the car with the key.

That's what I would have thought, but not the case.
