6c 2016 Gti oil sump pan
6c 2016 Gti oil sump pan
I have a leak from the sump pan so I need to change the pan and gasket. Can anyone tell me the genuine part numbers for both? Or confirm if an alternative brand will fit properly.
Thanks
Thanks

Thanks, when you say sealer and seals… are they needed also? I thought it would just be pan and gasket?

Sealer goes between the sump and the gasket.
Seals should replaced, there are 2 on the sump, you could re-use them but that is not recommended

Thanks again Maarten. Are you aware of any youtube videos on this? Im going to do it myself but the only vid i could find was just sump and Sealer. No gasket used. I always thought it was either gasket or sealer and never both.

Re: 6c 2016 Gti oil sump pan
Thanks again. What about the oil level sensor i saw a video where that is reused but they changed the seal on that also?
I don't think this is a difficult job but I cant get my head around needing the sealer with the sump that has a gasket in as the videos i see only sealer is used when there is no gasket.
I can get a sump pan on ebay for £40 do you have any idea of they are decent quality or if genuine vw is the only way to go with this?
Thanks for the help. I am competent with tools, have serviced our own cars for 10 years now but in that time have never once done a sump pan change.

I do not see a seal on the image.
My last oil sump was on a golf mk2 almost 20 years ago, those had cork gaskets lol.
I can't tell you which is the best way to go.

Can anyone tell me if I should avoid a copy part for the sump? I ask as I can get a sump for £40 but a genuine VW sump is around £200 so a massive difference.
I know some specific parts are adviseable to stay away from anything other than genuine but does anyone know if this is the case for a sump pan on these cars?
I have ordered oil, filter, sump pan bolts and oil sensor gasket now just need to get the actual pan ordered.

I'd think that answer could be "do you feel lucky?".
I hope to treat my wallet and my cars properly and ending up with an issue with a "lookie likie" nice and cheap, sump pan, will cause your engine problems - unless you are lucky.
Only you can make the correct choice for you.
