Waiting for the touch-up paint to dry...

- With VW's Diversity system, radio reception is perfect even in mid-mountain terrain. Diversity: two antennas, one on the roof with amp and the other on the rear windshield heater element with amp and filters +-.

- The updated VW GPS antennas perform faster in terms of global positioning. It is isofact as soon as the satellites are detected.

A significant improvement, it is especially nice to be able to listen to the radio or navigate when there are general power outages in your country... under normal conditions, you can continue to use your precious smartphone for everything...

Autoscan in the next post, I'm still testing some 5F adaptation channels... for possible future improvements.

To install this VW navigation system, I had to remove my 2018 RNS 510 DAB with the factory latest firmware and hardware. As wiewed in previous posts, I had to change the RVC due to the video signals and remove the A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) telephone unit, which the DM PQ has integrated.

Previous Setting:

...for sale.
Used but in 'mint' condition... for car exhibiton!

... impossible to find anything similar (RNS510_2018_Best SW/HW, RGB RVC_Logo is re'NEW', TLF Module_Best SW_free).

Discover Media PQ. Critique: In My SUPER Humble Opinion.
Upgrading from the RNS 510 to the DM PQ is only worth it if you have other driver assistance systems installed in your VW that integrate with 'this' navigation/information system. The DM PQ isn't particularly exciting under any circumstances.
I find it very difficult to find a single reason why VW would put so much effort into protecting such a crappy navigator/information system. At least it doesn't have those ridiculous pastel colors of the latest VW navigation/information systems.
In other words, we say something is good because we don't know there are other things that are infinitely better...
... but in my case I do know that there are navigation units/info systems in other vehicle brands that are infinitely better, ...without...

If we agree that a private vehicle is for getting from point A to point B, nowadays (21th century), only a profoundly mentally retarded would try to sell a private vehicle without a true non-dependent navigation system.

However, I'm happy to install this DM PQ in a 13-year-old vehicle; it's which one it should have left the factory with back then.

MQB Patch. Vehicle menu, etc.

The vehicle menu is very useful for viewing all trip data at a glance (without pressing the multifunction buttons), while, for example, the MFD/I/A has the navigation menu with manouvering/maneuvering instructions.
Enough reason to have the mqb vehicle menu available... + other things.

Some time ago (2018), I installed two rear tweeters to make the Amp-Sub Helix's bass a little more pleasant. I'm talking about the 'boom-boom-boom'.

I currently have the Amp-Sub Helix installed in the Golf, which sounds divinely immersive.

Now, with the DM PQ, these two tweeters, and the current coding —8 passive speakers without an external sound system— the sound is magnificently pleasant.

POLO 6R. Discover Media. MQB 1K8 PDC unit installed. Maps Update 2025/26.

I reinstalled the MQB 1K8 PDC unit to achieve front parking sensors 'automatic' activation. As is well known, a priority 6 fault is also shown in the diagnostics (NP). Missing Message in unit J527 - the 6R PQ25 does not have this unit -. I have a couple of these J527 units in the storage room but the message does not arrive there either.

I have organized the wiring and wiring adapter for LCA and PDC as best I could.

I've already tested the Passat CC and Golf 6 parameters, so I'm now setting this 1K8 unit to the Jetta parameters.

I have the impression that there are no differences in the performance of these three parameters.

POLO 6R. 'The Best' Parameters/Dataset for 1K8919472C PDC unit in Polo 6R 'HATCHBACK'.

I was never fully convinced of the PDC sensors' performance with this 1K8 unit, so today I thoroughly retested, one after the other, all the parameters/datasets I currently have available for this 1K8 unit.

Parameters/Datasets downloaded from the VCP server.

On my 6R (summary):
1- With datasets from the Golf 6, Passat CC, and Jetta, I occasionally experience false positives or ghost detections on the two rear center PDC sensors during maneuvers.
2- With the Jetta dataset, the four corner PDC sensors activate too late. On the OPS screen, obstacles detection appear in the gray zone when they should already be in the red zone, as shown in the other datasets.
3- As incredible as it may seem, with the Sharan dataset, everything works as it should. No ghost detections, and obstacle detection was correct with the 8 PDC sensors, same as with my 7E0 PDC unit (PQ25). I recommend them.

Note:
Every time you load data sets into this PDC 1K8 unit, the coding is lost, so you must have the coding on hand (autoscan) to re-code. Easy peasy!

Ranking from best to worst data set according to my TESTS:
1- Sharan.
2- Golf 6.
3- Passat CC.
4- Jetta.

This is a merging of all the CAN lines on a T8 connector I made on my 6R in '2017' when I installed the Direct TPMS. Among other things, I used it as a 'mini test bench' to load parameters into TPMS units of friends who didn't have VCP. Now it becomes my personal 'mini TIUL'.

On the T8 white connector (mini TIUL) is where I'll connect my new candy (CB).

T8/7 and 8 are currently vacant, therefore, T8/7 will be +30, and T8/8 will be Earth-∞, so that it fits as it should and be able to connect my new RVC Highline.

POLO 6R. RVC Highline (KA2). Camera lens height.

These are my two new RVC Highline.

The 5Q0 HW is a Lowline to Highline conversion, which I'll show you step by step in the next post. Also the Adaptation of the wiring without removing the existing one for the RVC Lowline (KA1) currently installed on my 6R.

Initially, I'll calibrate them in our Golf 7.5 for the sole purpose of not having to do the calibration process twice. Then I'll decide which Logo model I like best and which one to install in the 6R.
Well, I'm not ruling out recalibrating the chosen one on the 6R, which is possible once the new CAN Bridge is installed.

RVC on Emblem Conversion from LOWLINE (KA1) to HIGHLINE (KA2). Adaptation of the installed wiring from lowline to highline.

This is not a tutorial, it's just how I did it.
Do not do this under any circumstances.

POLO 6R. New mini TIUL 'T10 coupling'. CAN Bridge holder. (ciclo's POLO customization)

I opened the side cover of the dashboard to check where I could install the CB and see the status of the T8 coupling for the CAN lines I installed in 2017.

CAN Bridge power. SB6.

The positive and negative wires run through the A-pillar, which is perfect for splicing the new power wires there.

I need two more positions on the coupling, so I'm going to replace the T8 coupling with a New T10 coupling.

Size comparison between POLO 6R and Passat B8 for RVC Highline calibration.

As I mentioned, I'll initially calibrate my 3 RVCs Highline installed in our Golf 7.5, however, I leave this comparison here in case it might be useful at some point, now or in the future.
If you're interested in the calibration process, start by reading here and in following posts.

I'm going to attempt the calibration process this weekend, but I don't think it will be favorable due to environmental conditions (outdoor location, intense sunlight). Too much light will cause glare on the calibration panel, so the camera won't be able to properly see the calibration panel pattern to complete the process successfully.

Optimism: I'm going to try it with enthusiasm.

Pessimism: I don't think I'll succeed.

POLO 6R. MOT (ITV) 2025.

As every year around this time, my 6R passed the MOT successfully, FAVORABLE.
It was quick, about 20 minutes, all in normal/good condition, the MOT operators/engineers were pleasant and friendly.

Today has been a normal/good day.

As always, I personally don't like the torture devices -sliding platforms- used to check the condition of the front axle for play/clearances/wear at the joints. 'Alloy' wheels can deform if the tires are low-profile and etc...

On the other hand, fortunately the RVCs Highline are already 'Calibrated' viewtopic.php?p=608690#p608690, so I am looking forward to installing the RVC Highline in the 6R as soon as possible.

I've left modules 10 and 6C coded that way for future testing and because it doesn't cause additional diagnostic faults.

Setback
Because my 6R's ABS system doesn't have 'bi-directional' wheel speed sensors, the parallel parking feature doesn't work. It activates correctly when engaging reverse gear, you can see the blocks and the adjustment box turns from red to green when moving the steering wheel, but since the message of moving backwards is not sent by the ABS system, it never begins to display the parallel parking assist/help lines. In the advanced meas values, the ABS unit detects 'speed' both forward and backwards on the rear ABS sensors, but not the rotation direction.

I guess I will have to fix this in the future (new ABS unit), both for the RVC parallel parking feature and the RTA function beeping of the BSD radars.
For now, and perhaps forever, I can live happily without it, dynamic trajectory guidance is the best and most effective of all the RVC Highline features.
