Hi guys, here’s a strange one.
When I press the clutch, the engine revs to the max, without me touching the throttle…. It’s a 1.2 & only gets around 25mpg. I have to decelerate in top gear until I feel the car hesitate, then I can change down without the revs going through the roof. I’ve cleaned the throttle body with no improvement.
Any ideas will be appreciated cos I’m stuck!
Cheers
Engine revving by itself!!??

Re: Engine revving by itself!!??
I forgot to mention that it also feels like it’s surging ahead when I’m motorway cruising. There’s no engine braking, so I end up braking just to keep my distance from the car in front.
The throttle pedal looks like it might be fly by wire.
I was wondering if anyone knows how to test if it’s working
Best regards
Martin

Re: Engine revving by itself!!??
i'd suggest to read the live values in the ecu, for what it's thinking the throttle pedal is doing.
