Yes, that can be typical for car used on Northern roads I'm afraid, my wife's car is an August 2015 bought new by us, now with 54,000 miles and it looks nasty underneath.
All the bolt on metal parts seem to have very little in the way of rust protection from the factory black paint.
Maybe attack it and rust proof it with a wax product.
I chipped off a lot of rust from the outer ends of the rear beam when choosing to replace the factory rear springs and this year chose to attack the front subframe with an air needle thing but ran out of time to treat the rust before painting it and just waxoyled it to help it over this winter.
Removing the side under covers and wheel arch liners every few years and cleaning any accumulated junk and applying something like waxoyl is a handy thing to do.
Front brake splash guards I replaced with galvanised ones when replacing the front brake discs and pads last year - only replaced them as the mainly hidden inner faces were rusting quite a bit. Rears also got replaced at the same time due to them looking very nasty.
Edit:- rear box heat shield retainers will probably need repair patches fitting to them, I bought a pack of 6 from ebay for not too much money so that I could sort this out before the heat shield drops down - dissimilar metals is the issue here.
