All in Service Plan

Post by Polo72 »

Hi
Has anyone had any experience with the all in service plan? My car is coming up 3 and vw have offered me this plan. Which includes an extended warranty. I’ve read the t&c looks like your typical extended warranty blah blah but has anyone had any good experiences from it ?

Thanks
Tom

I’ve not personally had experience of it but I’m on other VW forums where other forum members have the All In product who have had a good experience. Quite a few Golf owners have had the water pump and thermostat housing replaced under the warranty element of the All In product (water pump & thermostat housing are a weak point on the 2.0 litre EA888 petrol engine) - a job that probably costs in excess of £1,000 these days at a VW dealership.

As the product includes two years warranty, two years servicing, two years roadside assistance and two MOT’s, the cost of the All In plan does represent good value for money IMHO compared to buying separate warranty and breakdown cover and paying for servicing / MOT work separately when due. From memory the service plan element of the All In product covers just the basic service work - oil / filter change + inspection + pollen filter; any additional maintenance items - e.g. brake fluid change, new spark plugs - are separate chargeable items that fall outside the plan (check the small print in the plan to make sure you know what you’re getting); that’s no different to VW’s stand alone service plans though.

Historically, VW have run a Black Friday promotion so it’s worth checking the VW website to see if they’re running a campaign at the moment to see what it includes.

Sorry to resurrect this question.
But I have been looking at the service plan options for my 2yr old gti, it seems the all in plan isn’t available for me on the VW website. I suspect that is because of the warranty (>Dec 26).
My dilemma is:
Do I opt for the basic service plan (£22/m) over the plus plan (£30/m). As the plus plan only gives me the spark plugs extra. Or as the year 3 service is going to be a minor service + MOT, so should I just pay the bill on the day (cost £??), I am only likely to keep the car >4yrs before buying the next one. So there’s a good chance that I’ll miss paying the cost of the service in year 4.

Here in SA we have the option of selecting a full maintenance plan on purchase of a new vehicle. up to 300 000 KMs or 15 years. The cost work out to approx 315 GBP p/a and imho is well worth it if you plan to keep the vehicle for a long time. An example now is that my aircon packed up and VW is replacing it at no cost to me and also given me a loan vehicle while my car is at their workshop.
