Beetle 2013 - Retrofit Folding Mirror.
Beetle 2013 - Retrofit Folding Mirror.
Hello!
I read on the forum about retrofitting the folding mirrors on the Polo 6R.
I saw that a user used the same door module from the Beetle that I have in my car (5C5959801M).
My question is, my car came with the BCM PQ25 Re4.
Can I connect it to this BCM by pulling the 5x wires?
I already bought and installed the switch and the mirrors with electric motors for folding but it does not work, I think I need to pass wires.
If someone can help like @ciclo I will be glad.
Thank you.

Welcome.
I read the post, but some checks need to be done, which takes time.
Between the holidays and countless other circumstances, it will be a long time before I can help.
Until then, please continue to provide us with information that you gather yourself, thank you.

Thanks for your answer.
Unfortunately, I ran the wires to the driver's door to test it, but it didn't work
Motor pin 14 - mirror's mating connector pin 2
Motor pin 15 - mirror's mating connector pin 4
Motor pin 12 - switch's connector pin 8
I suspect that my BCM is not capable (BCM PQ25 Re4), as all Polo users who did this retrofit were using BCM PQ25 Max4 or BCM PQ25 H+4.
I bought a standalone power folding mirror module on Aliexpress and will try that route. Hopefully, it will work then.
If you have any other ideas, thanks again.

Re: Beetle 2013 - Retrofit Folding Mirror.
Your 6R0 BCM Re4 perfectly supports folding mirrors, no problem.
If possible, please point me to the thread where you read that someone installed WRMs for the Beetle's folding mirrors on a 6R. It's just to confirm that the same part number was used.
I seem to recall that my good friend Slavik also installed Beetle WRMs (Cabrio - AW0) on his 6R T-Cross, he used 6R0 part numbers, not 5C5.
These:
Subsystem 2 - Part No SW: 6R0 959 801 BF HW: 6R0 959 801 BF Labels: 6R0-959-801.CLB
Component: J386__TSG_FT 004 8662
Serial number: KU0KU021071552021861
Coding: 0200A3
Subsystem 3 - Part No SW: 6R0 959 802 BM HW: 6R0 959 802 BM Labels: 6R0-959-802.CLB
Component: J387__TSG_BT 004 8662
Serial number: KU0KU021081552334528
Coding: 1000AB
In the info you posted in the first post is missing the coding for those WRMs... perhaps OBD11 has the descriptions for coding them.
I'll keep looking into it tomorrow, ETKA online is currently being updated and is inaccessible.

I will stop searching for a new BCM then.
Regarding the door modules, on this topic in this forum, the member used the same door module as mine. He just ran the wires and did not do any coding, that's why I thought my problem was in my BCM.
viewtopic.php?t=71711
When I use his coding "010000", my window controls are reversed (right controls left and left controls right).
I'm confused. I'm not sure if my problem is coding or maybe the wiring is different, but it seems like the wiring is the same for Polo, T6, etc.
Edit: I only passed wires on driver's door to test, but I don't think it matters.

Re: Beetle 2013 - Retrofit Folding Mirror.
Try these/this coding:
Subsystem 1 - Part No SW: 5C5 959 801 M HW: 5C5 959 801 M
Component: J386__TSG_FT 011 1032
Serial number: --------------------
Coding: 800000
Subsystem 2 - Part No SW: 5C5 959 802 P HW: 5C5 959 802 P
Component: J387__TSG_BT 011 1032
Serial number: --------------------
Coding: 800000
This appears to be the most common coding for your WRMs.
Don't forget to reset the window comfort function after coding, and then check if the folding mirror works.
I assume the mirror has a folding motor, right?
It doesn't matter if for now you've only made the connections for the driver's side mirror -WRM- (and switch).

Re: Beetle 2013 - Retrofit Folding Mirror.
That coding did not work. I tried other ones I found on Google, but none of them worked, one of them even returned (31) Coding not accepted.
That member on this forum was the only one I found who used the same door module as mine.
You’re sure my BCM PQ25 Re4 supports mirror folding, right?
There is a guy selling a 6R0959802 door module. I’ll try it first on the driver’s side, and if it works, I’ll buy the passenger-side module as well.
Thanks for your help, Ciclo.
Edit: Yes, 8 pin mirrors.

Re: Beetle 2013 - Retrofit Folding Mirror.
Your BCM also supports automatic headlights (RLS required).
It's like the old 7H0 BCM Max for 7L3 vehicles (mine was factory-installed - 2012), but for Start/Stop systems (7L6-7L8) with external gateways.
System description: BCM PQ25 Re4
Software number: 6R0937088F
Software version: 0353
Hardware number: 6R0937088
Hardware version: H50
Currently, after so many years
, there are no assumptions in this regard.
Here's an example autoscan of a Beetle that will be similar to yours.
https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php? ... ost-333969
There are many of these autoscans on the Ross-Tech forum, each of them with their own particular idiosyncrasies.
---
Tip: If you do any coding tests, post the test, no matter what the result is, or you'll probably find information like the other user who said he got them working, but empty of content.

According to ETKA, your WRMs (PR code 6XN) do not have the software for folding mirror.
They should be (PR code = 6XE), LHD vehicle:

Re: Beetle 2013 - Retrofit Folding Mirror.
Hi @Ciclo,
Update!
I bought two new door modules:
6R0959801BK/Z0B – HW 03 / SW 8662 (driver)
6R0959802BM/Z03 – HW 04 / SW 8672 (passenger)
The driver-side mirror folds, but the passenger-side one doesn’t.
Maybe I need door modules with the same hardware and software versions?
I enabled the comfort function, and the driver side also folds when locking the car with the key knob.
Thanks!

Re: Beetle 2013 - Retrofit Folding Mirror.
Do you have a diagnostic tool? ODDeleven, VCDS, etc...
Please post an Autoscan, or at least tell us the current coding of both new WRMs. Thank you.

Re: Beetle 2013 - Retrofit Folding Mirror.
Hi Ciclo,
I got it to work. The wires on the passenger side were in the wrong position in the window motor.
Thanks for your time and your support.
Now I have auto-folding mirrors, but my driver’s door actuator went bad lol.
My next job

Re: Beetle 2013 - Retrofit Folding Mirror.
That's great. Congratulations!

However, since this forum has a global character
, and in the interest of 'order and progress', it would be greatly appreciated if you could post an Autoscan using whatever diagnostic tool you have, this would allow any user who might have the same concerns as you to achieve the same results.
Adding a couple of key images would be absolutely perfect, sharing 'positive' results generates immense personal satisfaction.
Hopefully, you'll get the same results in your next job.
